SUMMARY:Project Local at the Caldwell-Lake George Library
DESCRIPTION:Mark Grimaldi\nGrimaldi is renowned for his expertise in abstract expressionism; his artistic journey is deeply influenced by the iconic American artist\, Jackson Pollock. With a portfolio of work found in studios\, professional offices\, and private collections\, his style captivates viewers worldwide. \nMastering the “drip” technique over years of dedication\, Grimaldi infused his distinct flair into this iconic method. Seeking innovation\, he adapted the technique to diverse surfaces\, including elevated vertical planes\, without revealing traditional “drips.” \nHe also envisioned reimagining the spectrum of objects suitable for this style\, enriching each with narrative depth and emotive resonance. Through meticulous\nexperimentation\, Grimaldi perfected the fusion of paint type and application method\, achieving his envisioned results. \nEvery creation bears the essence of his soul\, ensuring each piece is a singular\, unparalleled original. Rejecting mass production\, he remains committed to the authenticity of his craft\, eschewing prints in favor of genuine\, intimate artworks. \nMark lives in Lake George. His work is shown at the Tivoli Arts Gallery in Tivoli\, NY\, and Art Gallery 71 in Rhinebeck\, NY\, and can be seen at markgrimaldi.com.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nJude Dolton\nYou see something\, you pull out your camera and take the picture.  That picture is almost exactly what you see in front of you right?  That’s what photography is at its core\, it’s a way to capture the world.  Since almost everyone has a camera in their pocket\, we are seeing the same photos over\, and over.  The more I have noticed this\, the more I have turned away from just documenting what I’m seeing.  Using long exposures\, I have been taking a more impressionistic approach.  I use the term Impressionism because much like the paintings from that era\, even with objects and subject matter you can identify the work is very much still abstract. \nJude Dolton is a 2019 graduate of Glens Falls High School. In 2022 they received a grant to photograph and document local motel signs resulting in a solo exhibition at the Warren County Historical Society.  She has exhibited locally with the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council\, North Country Arts\, and The Folklife Center at Crandall Library. Their work was also featured in the Top 100 Juried High School Student Art Show at The Hyde Collection (2018). She currently studies Visual Arts at Alfred University\, Alfred\, NY. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nProject Local \nCaldwell-Lake George Library 336 Canada Street Lake George \nExhibition Reception Thursday\, December 18\, 2024 6:00 – 8:00 PM \nLibrary Hours: Monday – Friday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM Saturday: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
