SUMMARY:Alfredo Rodríguez Trio
DESCRIPTION:About Alfredo\n\n\n\nGlobally acclaimed artist Alfredo Rodriguez has announced his new album Coral Way will be released on August 18 via Mack Avenue Records. The album embodies the collective sound of Miami: a blend of Latin pop\, timba\, salsa\, bachata\, tango\, reggaeton\, and bolero. Reminiscent of the city’s diverse Latino community\, the album calls upon Rodriguez’s roots just as much as his newly-learned experiences.  \nIn his new home\, Rodriguez took note of the limited cross-pollination and few collaborations that existed between mainstream Latin music and Latin jazz. Coral Way\, which features guest vocalists Cimafunk and Alana Sinkëy\, serves as the connective tissue between these worlds—an artistic statement for the diverse Latin community to be seen\, be heard\, and take pride in their history\, while creating community through individuality. \nRodriguez notes\, “I play what I live\, and Coral Way is my new life. It is the name of the street on which\, for the past 3 years\, I have been composing this album\, and now I’m excited that people from all over the world will finally get to hear it in an expansive way\, with a full live band.” \nBorn and raised in Havana\, Cuba\, Rodriguez’s world was confined by the numerous restrictions imposed by his country. With limited options\, his parents enrolled him in a classical conservatory\, but he was quickly shut down by his first teacher who declared him devoid of talent. Despite pushback\, his love for piano grew so strong that he wasn’t even deterred by not having a piano to practice on at home; instead\, he painted piano keys on his parents’ dinner table so he could run his scales. \nIn 2006\, at age 19\, he received an invitation to represent Cuba at the Montreux Jazz Festival (MJF) in the International Solo Piano Competition. After applying and auditioning as a composer\, alongside twelve of the top pianists in the world\, he was accepted and made his way to Switzerland\, where he ended up being invited to festival founder Claude Nobs’ chalet to play for the guests\, one of whom happened to be legendary producer Quincy Jones. Upon Jones’ return to Los Angeles\, he couldn’t get Alfredo out of his mind. He called his VP\, Adam Fell\, and explained that Alfredo was one of the best pianists he had ever seen and they needed to work with him. Little did they know\, Alfredo had only received permission to travel to Switzerland to play in the competition (as it was difficult for Cubans to obtain a travel visa)\, and also learned it would be illegal to work with him due to the Cuban embargo. \nCubans were not allowed to work in the U.S.\, and could only arrive at U.S. border stations to seek political asylum—meaning that Alfredo would have to relinquish his Cuban citizenship and jeopardize his ability to return home until he obtained a green card. After a year and a half of contemplating\, he mustered up the courage and made the difficult decision to leave his family behind for a country that could offer him the platform he needed to share the broader message of his music with more people. \nIt’s evident the journey was worth it because not only has Alfredo earned frequent appearances on prestigious stages around the world such as the Playboy Jazz Festival\, North Sea Jazz Festival\, Jazz in Marciac\, Umbria Jazz and \n\n\n\n\n\n\nJazz A Vienne\, but additionally\, Rodriguez was nominated for a Grammy® in the category of “Best Arrangement\, Instrumental or A Cappella\,” for the track “Guantanamera\,” from his album\, The Invasion Parade. Additionally\, during his first tour in China\, Rodriguez was asked to work with Tan Dun\, Siedah Garrett\, and Quincy Jones to compose the English version of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo theme song\, becoming the first non-Chinese artist to be bestowed this honor. He’s also been featured over the years by All Things Considered\, Downbeat\, The New York Times\, Los Angeles Times\, and Wall Street Journal among many others\, and performed for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert. \nRodriguez continues to share his music along with his impactful message of perseverance and cross culturalization on an international tour\, while sharing a variety of viral social media videos in which he plays well-known compositions in a Cuban timba style. \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Alfredo Rodriguez – Piano\nHan Beyli – Bass\nArmando Lopez – Drums\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n HIS MUSIC\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Alfredo Rodriguez Trio | Live on KUVO!\n \n \n \n \n \n Alfredo Rodríguez Trio: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Learn More about Alfredo Rodríguez

It includes original compositions by trumpet player Terry Gordon and guitarist Roger Noyes. \nIn March 2013 the band was named Best Local Jazz Band in the Metroland Readers Poll and embarked on a tour of Egypt\, performing at the Cairo Jazz Festival and other gigs. The trip was sponsored by the educational organization AMIDEAST\, the U.S. Embassy Cairo\, and the Center for American Studies at the American University in Cairo. That same year\, the band opened up for Charlie Hunter and Oleta Adams at the Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival. Drawing from their experiences in Egypt\, the group\, in October 2014\, released a 9-song sophomore album\, Blues For Soli (also on WEPA Records)\, which includes a suite of music directly influenced by their Egypt tour. In a review of the album for Metroland\, Jeff Nania writes: “This record serves to showcase the evolution of a local group’s compositional style as they continue to go beyond bop and incorporate further cultural influences into their sound.” \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n “The trio\, though named after the spaghetti Western film persona\, was the real deal. SUMMARY:Edmar Castañeda Quartet
DESCRIPTION:About Edmar Castañeda\nEdmar Castañeda nominated for a Latin Grammy in the category “Best Latin Jazz Album” with his album Family.  \nUpon arriving in the United States in 1994\, Colombian-born Edmar Castañeda has made a name for himself as the preeminent jazz harp virtuoso. Castañeda brings forth a brilliance that beautifully merges the jazz tradition with a diverse set of styles and genres while bringing unbridled attention to a somewhat unfamiliar instrument: the harp. Singlehandedly\, Castañeda has cemented the harp’s place in jazz with innovative technique and heartfelt creativity from a wealth of formidable collaborations with music titans such as Wynyton Marsalis\, Bela Fleck\, John Scofield\, Ricki Lee Jones\, Hiromi\, Pedrito Martinez\, Marcus Miller\, Gonzalo Rubalcaba\, Ivan Lins\, The Yellowjackets\, Paco De Lucia\, and Paquito D’Rivera.  \nIn the same breath as the Yo-Yo Ma’s of the world\, Castañeda fearlessly stuns audiences\, musicians\, and critics alike with his incredible talents as a player and composer. NPR’s “Fresh Air” touts\, “…his technique is the real astonishment. Castañeda juggles lead\, rhythm and bass lines\, using a variety of hard and soft string attacks to keep those voices distinct — all without giving up the groove…His amazing technique…raises the bar for every harpist.” The New York Times notes\, “…Castaneda… engage[s] modern jazz in ways that honor…cultural origins\, and [he has] the capacity to astonish by virtue of [his] fingerstyle technique.” Moses Sumney highlights his “5 Favorite NPR “Tiny Desk Concerts” and says\, “My brain cracked open when I first saw this. Some classical instruments are so ingrained in our heads for sounding one way; Edmar restructures what we know of harp\, defiantly expanding the bounds of the instrument.”  \nCastañeda follows up seven acclaimed albums (Cuarto de Colores; Entre Cuerdas; Double Portion; Live at the Jazz Standard; Live In Montreal; Harp vs. Harp; Family ) with his latest recording project\, Viento Sur\, with a nine-person ensemble of acclaimed global musicians from Switzerland\, Brazil\, Cuba\, Israel\, Chile\, USA\, Argentina\, and Colombia. An array of compositions on Viento Sur are commissioned by American Chamber Music from the “New Jazz Works Grant.”  \nCastañeda’s renowned albums as a bandleader are interchanged with awe-inspiring symphonic and bigband works likes Wynton Marsalis Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra\, Clássica de Espinho and the São Paulo Jazz Symphony Orchestra\, and chamber pieces for the Israel Camerata Jerusalem and the Orquestra Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia. \nIn fall 2021\, Castañeda’s work was released in Disney’s Encanto\, which features original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda. SUMMARY:David Gilmore Quartet
DESCRIPTION:About David Gilmore\nOver the past decade guitarist and composer David Gilmore has recorded and performed with some of the most highly influential and innovative artists in modern music today including Wayne Shorter\, Dave Douglas\, Muhal Richard Abrams\, Sam Rivers\, Steve Coleman\, Don Byron\, Cassandra Wilson\, Uri Caine\, Randy Brecker and David Sanborn. He has appeared on over 50 recordings and been a major presence on the international touring scene. In the Spring of 2001 he released his first recording as a leader entitled Ritualism\, which has already received major international critical appraise and was nominated for Debut CD of the Year in 2001 by the Jazz Journalists Association. Mr. Gilmore was also recently voted into the Rising Stars category in DownBeat Magazine’s Critic’s Poll. \nBorn and raised in Cambridge\, Massachusetts\, Gilmore sought out music at a young age experimenting with piano\, drums and percussion before discovering the guitar at the age of 15. After a few years of private study with Boston local guitar gurus John Baboian and Randy Roos\, Gilmore moved to New York to attend New York University\, where he studied under the tutelage of sax titan Joe Lovano and pianist Jim McNeely. Shortly after his graduation in 1987\, Gilmore began touring and recording in earnest with many of the members of the fledging M-Base Collective\, and soon after began to find himself in many other diverse musical situations\, recording and/ or touring with Ronald Shannon Jackson\, Trilok Gurtu\, Graham Haynes\, Robin Eubanks\, and Lonnie Plaxico. In the early 1990’s he became an active member of the popular jazz/fusion group Lost Tribe\, co-producing their first two recordings for the Windham Hill Label. \nOver the years he has also lent his skills to a variety of pop/ commercial acts including Japan’s Monday Michiru\, Me’shell N’Degeocello\, Melissa Etheridge\, Joan Osbourne\, Mavis Staples\, Issac Hayes\, Boz Scaggs\, Tommy Lang of Austria\, Rise Robots Rise\, and toured extensively with multi-platinum selling artist Joss Stone. In 1995 Gilmore got the call to join sax legend Wayne Shorter’s group\, and appears on Mr. Shorter’s Grammy Award winning album\, High Life on Verve. He can be found most recently on recordings by Christian McBride\, Carolyn Leonhart\, Don Byron\, Ron Blake and Uri Caine. \nAs a composer\, improviser and guitarist\, Gilmore is committed to pushing the boundaries of improvisational music\, at the same time without alienating the uninitiated listener. His music reflects the diverse musical influences and experiences he has assimilated throughout his career. The exploration of rhythm is a major component of his music\, utilizing many non-Western approaches and integrating them into a modern framework. Gilmore was a recipient of the Chamber Music America New Works Composer Grant\, enabling him to compose a commisioned work entitled “African Continuum” which was performed in public in the Spring and Fall of 2003. His playing has been compared to guitarists with styles as diverse as George Benson\, Wes Montgomery\, Jimi Hendrix and Leo Nocentelli. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n David Gilmore – guitarLuis Perdomo – pianoBrad Jones- bassE.J. We hope our friends and members can join us for an evening of great company\, a little bit of Arts Project business\, and a celebration of The Arts Project and all that we do. \nSocial & Cocktail Hour with appetizers starts at 5:30pm\, followed by an amazing buffet dinner and the Annual Meeting at 6:30pm.We’ve got entertainment and a cash bar. \nSpecial Recognition: Mayor Ray Perry\, Village of Lake George \nFrom the very beginning\, the Lake George Arts Project has relied on the Shepard Park bandstand as a centerpiece of our mission. It has been our stage\, our gathering space\, and the place where generations have come together to experience free performances by thousands of artists. Our Summer Concert Series\, Jazz at the Lake\, and countless special events have found a home there – programs that have introduced new voices\, built community traditions\, and brought world-class talent to the town and village we all love. The bandstand has never been just a bandstand; it has been the heart of our work\, and a symbol of what arts and community can create together. \nThis year\, we will be honoring Mayor Ray Perry for his tireless work realizing a new Shepard Park. He brought partners together\, secured the much-needed resources\, and inspired all of us to reimagine a space that has had an immeasurable impact on the lives of residents and visitors. His vision for the project not only strengthens the cultural heart of our community\, it establishes a world-class performance venue that will stand as a testament to what a shared commitment to the arts\, bold leadership\, and collective purpose can achieve. \n\n\n\n\n \nTICKETS: $50 for members / $55 for non-membersPlease RSVP by December 1\, 2025Members Save $5!\n \nThe RSVP deadline has passed but we would still love to have you join us! SUMMARY:Richard Garrison: Readily Available
DESCRIPTION:Richard Garrison:  Readily Available\nJanuary 21 through February 21\, 2026\nArtist’s ReceptionSaturday\, January 24th4:00 – 6:00\nGallery Hours\n  \nWednesday – Friday:  12:00 – 5:00Saturday:  12:00 – 4:00Sunday\, February 8th: 12:00 – 4:00 \n\n \n \n \n \n \n Richard Garrison   \nArtist statement \nMy work examines familiar yet easily overlooked elements within the contemporary American landscape.  Each series of abstract drawings and watercolor paintings chart detailed observations of ordinary subjects such as advertisements\, product packaging\, online shopping\, and suburban environments. Processes such as color matching\, measuring\, and photography are used to distill and transform the seemingly unremarkable minutiae of daily life. The allure in our everyday surroundings is revealed in my work through an intimate and systematic interpretation of color\, space\, and time. \nBIO \nRichard Garrison received his BS in Studio Art from the College of Saint Rose\, Albany\, NY in 1993 and a MFA from Cornell University\, Ithaca\, NY in 1995. SUMMARY:Seth Butler: Mending the Path
DESCRIPTION:Seth Butler:  Mending the PathMarch 11 through April 11\, 2026\nArtist’s ReceptionSaturday\, March 14th4:00 – 6:00 PM\n \n \n \n \n \n Artist’s Statement\nI paint surrealistic landscapes\, using photographs as only a touchstone from which to branch out\, and creatively interpret what the imagination sees. As I dip my toes into fantasy realms\, reality is never a safety net\, but just the bottom of the creative swimming pool. I take the viewer and myself floating to the surface\, as I seek not only to show the surface beauty of the natural world\, but also its timeless and bold nature. To stop\, breathe\, and reflect on the mystery of nature is to reinvigorate our intent\, and reflect personal restoration. As I extend the space of possibilities\, the act of such is merely a reflection of the natural worldliving simply. \nBio\nSeth Butler is a fine artist based in Upstate New York\, specializing in capturing contemporary landscape and fantasy scenes in bold color and decisive markings and patterns. American\, born in 1974\, Mr. Butler attended the UAlbany MFA program\, where his work spun off of fantasy subjects\, embracing landscape as a  conduit of information and the basis of future work\, without forgetting that creative interpretation as the vehicle to steer. \nMr. Butler works primarily in oil\, in a range of dimensions. He is currently working from a collection of nature photos taken on serene nature walks in Upstate NY. Color and shadow are accentuated to explore the abstraction of form combined with not-so-obvious color choices. SUMMARY:Hayden Clay Williams presents "Clear Boundaries"
DESCRIPTION:Digital artist Hayden Clay Williams will present a new group of works from his series “The Suburbs\,” in which suburban life in the U.S. is examined through a surrealist lens. Using 3D rendering software\, the artist creates elaborately detailed scenes of suburban sprawl centered on bizarre arrangements of cookie-cutter houses. Channeling both the Belgian surrealist Rene Magritte and the filmmaker David Lynch\, Williams’ scenes are bathed in a glaring\, bright daylight that underscores the equally familiar and strange rules and rituals of modern homeownership. In the artist’s words\, “I’m particularly interested in blurring the line between dreams and reality\, creating sensations of strange tranquility.” The artist has noted elsewhere that there are “a lot of interesting stories to be told about the suburbs\,” and his method of sharing them is by first removing all visual traces of people\, pets\, and cars\, so that houses\, yards\, streets\, and sidewalks become the protagonists of his narrative. \nBio\nHayden Clay is a visual artist currently living and working in Frederick\, Maryland (USA). His practice centers around 3D digital art\, through which he creates surreal visual worlds that blur the boundaries between dreams and reality. His imagery is marked by a clean\, minimal aesthetic\, where simple natural elements are transformed into poetic\, otherworldly scenes. \nClay combines technical precision with emotionally resonant visual language. His use of pastel tones\, soft lighting\, and organic compositions evokes a meditative atmosphere. Many of his works move between utopia and dystopia\, between digital simulation and the familiarity of memory. He draws inspiration from nature\, childhood recollections\, and everyday sensory experiences—such as the warmth of sunlight on skin or the smell of freshly cut grass. \n \n \n \n \n \n Artist’s ReceptionSaturday\, May 16th4:00 – 6:00 PM\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Courthouse Gallery\n1 Lower Amherst StreetLake George\, NY 12845518-668-2616\nHours: Wednesday – Friday: 12:00 – 5:00 PMSaturday: 12:00 – 4:00 PM\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n THANK YOU!\n \n \n \n \n \n Throughout the year\, we offer 17 exhibitions of work by emerging and established artists in our Courthouse Gallery and in partner locations throughoutLake George. \nWe are able to do this because of the support of our sponsors and LGAP members.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n This program is supported by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

SUMMARY:Mary Pat Wager Presents "Remnant / Revelation"
DESCRIPTION:Remnant / Revelation\nIn this solo exhibition\, assemblage sculptor Mary Pat Wager presents a body of steel sculptures and wall pieces constructed from industrial\, agrarian\, and vintage materials — objects sourced from junkyards\, estates\, and the quiet edges of a century that built everything…and preserved almost nothing. Through welding\, deconstruction\, and reconstruction\, Wager forces these remnants into new configurations\, new conversations\, and new meaning. \nThe work does not mourn what was discarded. It interrogates it. Each piece asks what we chose to throw away — and what that choice reveals about us. \nIn Wager’s hands\, a remnant is never only what it was. It becomes a record. A relic. A mirror held up to a culture in the act of forgetting itself. The revelation is not in the transformation of the material — it is in what the material was already trying to say. \nRemnant / Revelation invites the viewer to reconsider the boundary between waste and witness\, between the end of one story and the beginning of another. \nBio\nMary Pat Wager is a sculptor whose work transforms found and salvaged materials — metal\, wood\, clay and the accumulated objects of ordinary life — into three-dimensional forms charged with memory\, history\, and meaning. Working primarily through assemblage\, welding\, casting and fabrication\, she creates sculpture that collapses the distance between past and present\, asking viewers to reckon with what objects carry and what they leave behind. \nWager’s work is held in numerous public and private collections and has been exhibited nationally and internationally across more than four decades of sustained practice. Corporate collections include Blue Cross/Blue Shield\, General Electric\, Key Bank\, McDonald’s Corporation\, Omni Corporation\, and Phoenix Life Insurance. Her work is also held in permanent collections at Castle Breitenbach Sculpture Park\, the Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure University\, the Schenectady Museum\, and the State University of New York at Albany. \n \n \n \n \n \n Artist’s ReceptionSaturday\, July 11th4:00 – 6:00 PM\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Courthouse Gallery\n1 Lower Amherst Street\nLake George\, NY 12845\n518-668-2616\nHours: \nWednesday – Friday: 12:00 – 5:00 PM\nSaturday: 12:00 – 4:00 PM\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n THANK YOU!\n \n \n \n \n \n Throughout the year\, we offer 17 exhibitions of work by emerging and established artists in our Courthouse Gallery and in partner locations throughout\nLake George.

The vibe is high-energy and dance-focused – the rhythm section interlocked and syncopated\, keeping us in the pocket and the dancers moving.\n\nInvoking the spirit of ’70’s electric experimental jazz pioneers like Dizzy Gillespie\, Cannonball Adderly\, Donald Byrd\, and Herbie Hancock and bringing in harder-modern avant-funk influences like Galactic\, Budos Band\, and sax virtuoso Skerik\, Oobleck delivers a one of a kind sound and energy not matched by many in the local scene.\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n “Sometimes they pump out the stone-cold soul-funk of the JBs. SUMMARY:Summer Concert Series: The Bluebillies
DESCRIPTION:The Bluebillies\nThe Bluebillies don’t just sing Country songs; they embody them\, performing their unique blend of country\, bluegrass and folk music with traditional style\, sound and spirit. Husband and wife team Mark and Melody Guarino have been singing together since 1984 when they first made it their mission to help revive and preserve the rich heritage of this great and uniquely American art form. With the addition of the Frank Orsini on fiddle and guitarist Greg Bucking\, The Bluebillies were complete and perform together with all the joy and simpatico that only a “family” band can produce. The Bluebillies produce a series of traveling Old-time Gospel Music Revues each season\, and also host their own gospel music open mic each summer\, and have released three Cd’s; Adirondack Angels in 2016\, Gal From Ioway in 2014\, and Train to Paradise in 2013. The Bluebillies are: \nMel “Melba Deen” Guarino was born in Sioux City Iowa to parents who both were musicians in swing bands. The family traveled all around the Midwest following the music and eventually settled in her dirt road one horse hometown of Black Oak Indiana. After hitchhiking and traveling all over the USA\, Mel settled in New York City where she played with various rock and folk bands. But soon she returned to the music she first heard and loved in Black Oak\, where Country Music was the music of choice among the population who had moved up North to find work in the gritty steel mills of Whiting and Gary. And it was the music that would become the driving force behind The Bluebillies style that forges close harmony bluegrass and hillbilly music into one heart-wrenching all-American wail. Melody is a prolific\, award winning songwriter (LARAC songwriter grant\, 2013) \nMark Guarino cut his teeth on rockabilly and country in his first band\, Buck Libido\, and opened for bands like Pure Prairie League and New Riders of the Purple Sage. His NYC based band\, The Ring\, toured New England opening for acts such as The Ramones\, Jason and the Scorchers\, and Whitesnake. He is an accomplished songwriter and seasoned stage performer\, well known throughout the lower Adirondack region. \nFrank Orsini has been one of the prominent acoustic musicians of Upstate New York. He plays violin\, viola and mandolin\, and has recently taken up Celtic harp. A versatile fiddler\, singer and seasoned ensemble player\, he has been on numerous recordings and been a member of many established groups with a strong following including the Whipper-Snappers\, the Upstate Bluegrass Band and the High Flyers. \nGreg Bucking has spent the past two decades writing for and performing in a variety of projects and musical styles. One of his current bands\, The Vine Brothers\, has recorded three albums and spent the last five years touring across the US. His song “Three Bottles” was featured on the Discovery Channel show Vegas Rat Rods. Greg also wrote and recorded three albums for the New York based Mother Freedom\, one for Broken Carousel\, and penned the score for the independent film My Brother Jack. Greg also regularly performs with the NYC ska sensations The Scofflaws. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Learn More About the Band\n \n Listen on YouTube Music

DESCRIPTION:Lollise\nLollise is a multi-disciplinary artist from Francistown\, Botswana\, based in NYC. She shares her bold Afro-futurist pop sound\, rich with layers of kinetic\, danceable percussion. Creating hybrid songs for this moment\, she takes influence from the music she grew up with – Setswana and Kalanga folk songs\, ’80s and ’90s South African electronic bubblegum and kwaito\, Congolese soukous and Zimbabwean sungura. Using sound\, color and movement\, Lollise tells stories in real and imagined worlds that are multidimensional and nuanced\, historical and futuristic. She performs with a potent energy and commitment to the music\, in body and in spirit. \nIn 2025 Lollise recorded on the Kronos Quartet’s rendition of Bob Dylan’s “A Hard Rain” alongside Iggy Pop\, Laurie Anderson\, Asha Bhosle\, Willie Nelson\, Allison Russell and many others. She has performed extensively in New York\, from DIY community spaces to arts institutions including BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn\, Public Records\, BAM\, Pioneer Works\, Brooklyn Museum\, Little Island Festival\, Elsewhere and Symphony Space. She has toured the US opening for Ibibio Sound Machine and Rubblebucket and played at the Durchlüften 2025 Festival at Humboldt Forum in Berlin.  \nLollise has performed extensively in New York\, from DIY community spaces to arts institutions including BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn\, Public Records\, BAM\, Pioneer Works\, Brooklyn Museum\, Little Island Festival\, Elsewhere and Symphony Space. Her music has been featured on Hearing Things\, Pop Matters\, KEXP\,  Rolling Stone\, Bandcamp Radio\,  Bandcamp Daily\, Okay Africa\,and New Sounds with John Schaefer on WNYC radio.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Gentleman Brawlers\nWhen Brooklyn collective Gentleman Brawlers (led by creative duo Becca Fox and Matt Walsh) performs\, it’s more than a concert: It’s an electrifying experience. “If you can MOVE you can DANCE!” shouts an exuberant Fox from the stage — or from the dance floor\, where she’s joined the crowd. Whether an electronic trio or a 7-piece band with dancers\, Gentleman Brawlers loves to engage an audience\, and the audience loves them right back. The BBC’s Tom Robinson hailed them as “a virtuoso live band\, grooving together like a beautifully engineered machine.” \nChanneling musical inspo Talking Heads\, the band’s distinct brand of Afrofunk and indie dance music becomes a visual as well as auditory feast on stage that Canadian blog The Revue calls “tantalizing and intoxicating.” Fox\, leading an expandable cast of dancers\, creates thrilling\, immersive live shows. A multi-disciplinary artist of Haitian and Jewish descent\, Fox embodies what it means to be mixed\, taking virtuosic dance turns in an eclectic range of styles from rhythm tap and West African to pop-modern contemporary.  With dance performances at the Metropolitan Opera (“Eurydice” and “Lucia di Lammermoor”) and numerous European TV ad campaigns to her credit\, Fox brings a potent\, incendiary presence to the stage that Arts Council of Greater New Haven described as “…airborne…half-vocalist\, half-bird.” \nGentleman Brawlers has two distinct musical incarnations – live and in studio – that elevate and inform each other. Through a sonic blend of disco-based horn lines\, sticky highlife guitar\, and polyrhythms from West Africa\, Trinidad\, and Brazil\, Gentleman Brawlers’ live shows ignite a community-based\, improvisational energy; audience engagement is integral to the band’s identity. In studio\, the band will often reimagine their songs through an experimental EDM lens. Whether the audience is on the dance floor or pressing play\, Gentleman Brawlers always delivers an exuberant\, celebratory experience. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Learn More About the Band\n \n Listen on YouTube Music\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Learn More About the Band\n \n Listen on YouTube Music
