Project Local: Vincent Woolley Photographs through March 1st

January 10 @ 8:00 am - March 1 @ 5:00 pm

Bio

As a graduate of William and Mary College with a degree in teaching, Woolley decided that sitting in a classroom was not really where he wanted to be. His love of art and the outdoors led him to the life of a photographer, and although he worked in many fields of photography, landscape photography is his real love. His early work was influenced by photographers Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, Minor Whyte, and Wynn Bullock.

He soon developed his own style which was more personal and abstract.  Most of his early work was done with a 4 x 5 View Camera shooting black and white; today he works with digital cameras in both black and white and color.

He was awarded a grant to photograph in Antarctica in 2015. Previous exhibitions include: Little Church Gallery, NJ After Image Gallery, Dallas, TX The Courthouse Gallery, Lake George Various galleries in Florida Publications: Southwest Photo Dallas Photo Adirondack Life

Artist’s Statement

The work you will see in this exhibition covers many years.  As a landscape photographer, my work includes anything that I find beautiful.  My favorite subjects include the Southwest, ice, river foam, and water reflections, all of which you can see here. I really like pictures that make you think and take a while to figure out. As my perception of the world around me changes, so will my photos!  Enjoy!
