Project Local is a program that brings the artwork of local and regional artists into partner businesses and organizations in the Lake George Region.


Exhibitions are selected by the business or organization and can vary in length. Artists, businesses and organizations who are interested in learning more about how they can participate are encouraged to reach out to June Waters, Director of Exhibitions at

About the Artist

Charles Hawley dedicated his life to preserving the beauty of Lake George, both through his art and through environmental leadership.  For nearly 30 years, he served on the Lake George Park Commission, nine as chairman.  He also served as councilman and supervisor of the Town of Lake George, chairman of the steering committee for the Lake George Park management plan, chairman of the Lake Champlain-Lake George regional planning board and advisor to the study commissioned for the future of the Adirondack Park.

A graduate of the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Institute (Carnegie Mellon University), Hawley painted extensively in the Adirondacks, Rocky Mountains, Canada, Alaska and Hawaii.

Charles Hawley was a life-long resident of Lake George – 1923 – 2010.
